FPL - the power and light company of the state of Florida, was required to take corrective action after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission found a security violation at the St. Lucie nuclear power plant. Let's take the opportunity and review the story via the ISO 9001 Standard requirements for CAPA.
The Nonconformity – During an inspection, a valve was detected over-tightened – not according to the security regulations. The inquiry– The commission says that in 2005, two contract workers over-tightened a valve but told the authorities they used the right torque wrench. The cause - The workers later admitted falsifying paperwork and that they used a different wrench. The commission says FPL failed to "assess the trustworthiness of the workers." The corrective action - FPL removed the workers from the site. Also FPL spokeswoman announced Tuesday that the company will comply with the commission recommendations. The closing - The commission announced that the corrective action is insufficient. FPL must prove to the commission. The main reason that this nonconformity occurred (trustworthiness of the workers) was not taken care of. |
